I was a little bit sceptic over Tiger Kingdom as I have read the reviews about the Tiger Temple near Kanchanaburi and how people believe that the Tigers are drugged. I chose to come here instead of go there because although the Tigers are in cages (just like any normal zoo) they are not chained to the ground like you see in so many pictures from Tiger Temple. I have always wanted to get up close to Tigers (some fascincation since I was little!) and Tiger Kingdom enabled me to do just that. I chose to go in with the smallest and the biggest. I was not disappointed. The Tiger cubs are so cute! There are trainers in there informing you of what you must and must not do (like run around, shout loudly etc) and because I was travelling on my own they assisted me in taking some pictures. You do only get to go in with each one for about 20 minutes which didn't seem too long considering how much it cost to do. Anyhow, I then went in with the big Tigers. The biggest ones in the park, I couldn't believe just how big they were and yet they were not very old. Tigers grow really quickly! After getting so close to both age groups of Tigers I can honestly say that at NO point did I think they were drugged. Especially since the large Tiger I was with got a little rowdy and whacked me full on with it's tail! I have seen chained animals and drugged animals elsewhere in Thailand but not here, I don't understand why people would go somewhere to complain about them being in captivity, hundreds of thousands of people visit ZSL in London and that's still animals in captivity?! Oh I also had lunch in the restaurant which is over looking one of the pens, the food was good but don't order if you're in a hurry, I almost missed my taxi back since it took 50 minutes for food to arrive!
