Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT.), Chiang Mai Office would like to invite everyone to experience the parade of more than 25 fabulous flower floats at the opening ceremony of the 37th Chiang Mai Flower Festival on 2nd February, 2013 at 08.00 a.m. onward from Nawarat bridge to Thapae road, Kotchasarn road, Changlor road and then to Arak road (Nong Buak Haad Public Park) It’s annually held on the first Friday-Saturday and Sunday of February, from 1st-3rd February, 2013 at Nong Buak Haad Public Park and Thapae Gate. Enjoy more than 25 flower floats, Miss Flower & Miss Flower Blooming Beauty Contest, the agricultural exhibition and fair, the contest and exhibition of flower arrangement, decorative plants, and mini garden landscaping, local products fair, and music shows in the park from 09.00-24.00 Hrs.

The heady fragrance of flowers fills the air in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand in February every year. This is when the greatest flower show in all of Thailand takes place. Sculptures crafted from flowers abound and they come in all shapes and sizes and range from temples, animals and some even depict stories from ancient scriptures. These are paraded down the streets of the town so that all may come and view these works of art. Orchids, chrysanthemums, roses and gladioli are only some of the flowers used for the displays and they come in a number of varieties. Come and take part in this sweet smelling festival in Chiang Mai!

What / Why :
The 37th Annual Chiang Mai Flower Festival is scheduled to run from February 1 to 3 with exhibitions, flower and plant sales, OTOP products, and food at Suan Buak Haat Park. This year, the event will be held in 3 main areas of Chiang Mai; Nawarat Bridge, Thapae Gate and Nong Buak Haad Park. The opening ceremony will be the grand floral parade which will go from Nawarat Bridge to Suan Buak Haat Park where the floats will remain on display throughout the festival. There are many floats taking part in the parade and all will be decorated with the flowers that make Chiang Mai so famous. There are also 8 major activities which visitors can join such as exhibition, flower decoration competition, Miss Chiang Mai flower festival beauty contest, OTOP products and food selling, live music in the garden etc.

| Flowers in Chiang Mai are at their best before the end of the cool season when this festival is held. This falls on the first weekend of February. The center of the festival is the parade held in the morning of Saturday. Floats decorated with flowers illustrate the theme chosen for the year. The beauty queens surrounded by flowers make a magical sight. The flower beds of the public gardens are bathed in colour and special displays are maintained till the end of Sunday. |
