The Best Credit Repair Book on the Market
While other credit repair books tell you to write letters and make phone calls, The Fix Your Credit Wookbook tells you what to do after those letters and phone calls fail to work. It details your rights as a consumer and, armed with that knowledge, you can be more effective in getting credit bureaus and creditors to respond favorably to your requests. If your creditors remain obstinate, review the authors' checklist to see if the creditor and/or credit bureau ever violated your rights. If so, follow their detailed instructions for filing a lawsuit against that creditor/credit bureau. Send the lawsuit and chances are you'll get what you want. In the process of applying for a mortgage I read several credit repair books in an effort to clean up my credit report. Compared to The Fix Your Credit Workbook, those other books were whimps. This book gives you information you can really use, details your rights, and gives you the ammunition to get concrete results FAST! The authors give you tips on what to negotiate for when writing to creditors. They give you sample letters. If a lawsuit becomes necessary, they give you detailed sample lawsuits and tell you how to file them. They also give you their website address, where you can find more tips and up-to-date information. After reading this book you'll realize that never again do you have to be at the mercy of creditors and credit bureaus. You have more power than you know. Your ignorance is the creditors' and credit bureaus' best weapon against you. Knowledge is your best weapon against them.

Travelers Checks Vs. Credit Cards

When traveling abroad, it is important to have the proper currency when you want to make purchases or you will not get very far. When you need to decide if travelers checks or credit cards are the better currency option for you, consider the expense, convenience and risk of each.

Cost: Travelers Checks
Companies that issue travelers checks typically charge a fee to purchase them, and then charge commission fees to cash or use them towards a purchase. Travel Money states that these fees may be hidden in the exchange rate price if you purchase travelers checks that are not for U.S. dollars.

Cost: Credit Cards
When using a credit card in a foreign country, the credit card company may charge you a cash advance fee or an exchange fee. A cash advance fee can be as high 1.5 percent, according to Travel Money. This means that the company could charge you a $1.50 fee for every $100 of cash you withdraw from an automated teller machine if the fee is 1.5 percent. Some credit cards that offer an introductory interest-free period may exclude cash advances, so there is a chance of incurring interest on cash advances you request.

When using a credit card to make a purchase in foreign currency, the credit card company may charge an exchange fee of up to 3 percent. Generally, credit card companies apply the exchange rate for the day the purchase was posted onto an account, not for the date of the charge. Independent Traveler states that the fees that credit cards charge may be less expensive than the ones to purchase and use travelers checks.

Convenience: Travelers Checks
Travelers checks are a convenient currency option because they are often accepted wherever you can make cash purchases and you can exchange travelers checks for local currency. Additionally, you can purchase travelers checks for almost any major currency type and they do not have an expiration date. Some tourists find that travelers checks are bulky and hard to carry in wallets or money belts. When you use a travelers check for a purchase, you have to physically endorse it in the presence of the cashier.

Convenience: Credit Cards
Because of their compact size, some travelers prefer credit cards because they are easier to carry. If you have a credit card with a rewards program, a trip abroad may be a good opportunity to earn and spend reward points earned. Credit cards are also convenient if you do not know how much money to take with you on a trip or you do not want to conduct any money exchanges. Before traveling, it is a good idea to let your credit card company know about your travel plans so they do not think the foreign charges are suspicious and freeze your account. It is also important to keep in mind that some locations may not accept credit cards.

Risk: Travelers Checks
One of the biggest benefits that travelers check offer, according to Independent Traveler, is security. If you lose or have your travelers checks stolen, you can have them reissued in as little as 24 hours. Travelers checks are widely accepted and are safe way to access your cash when you travel. They also make a good emergency backup if you cannot pay for purchases with a credit card or cannot find an ATM.

Risk: Credit Cards
Many credit card companies do not charge their customers for charges made on a credit card after a cardholder reports it lost or stolen. Some credit cards also offer travel insurance if you need to cancel a flight, experience a theft, lose your luggage, experience a collision in a rental car or need health insurance. One of the biggest risks associated with using a credit card in a foreign country, according to Travel Money, is having your credit card copied and used for purchases without your knowledge.
