The Southeast Asian Institute of Global Studies at Payap University proudly presents the following Payap Presents special lecture:

"Cashing In Across the Golden Triangle: Talk and Book Launch"
Speakers/Authors: Dr. Thein Swe and Dr. Paul Chambers, South East Asian Institute of Global Studies, Payap University

When: Thursday, 3 November 2011, 5-6pm, Room 317, Pentecost Building, Mae Khao Campus

October 2011 saw the publication of Cashing In Across the Golden Triangle, a book about the current economic development and trade situation among states along the North-South Economic Corridor in the Greater Mekong Subregion. Authors Thein Swe and Paul Chambers contend that in an increasingly globalized Mekong basin, regional cooperation is expanding rapidly.  In fact, an economic community of sorts is growing among the states of Thailand, Lao PDR, Myanmar and China.  Using a variant of realism, this study assesses the state of collaboration among these states with a view towards answering the following questions.  How has such collaboration evolved?  What have been the successes and obstacles along the way? What might be the future of north-south quadrangular community-building across the Mekong basin?
The authors will give an overview of their new book and have copies available for purchase for 450 baht (Mekong Press).
