the service was fantastic,I bought other stones but was given a jade necklace as a gift and I wear it more than the other items,I'm sorry I didn't buy some of the jade and would love to return if just to go and buy the jade I left behind Worth the visit
This was my second trip to Thailand, and my second visit to the Orchid Jade Factory. I usually purchase one per of earrings per trip. During the first trip (January 2008), I found a pair of small lavender jade earrings that were just exquisite. It had an oval lavender jade with amethysts on the each side, and small diamond chips above and below the stone. The assistant showed me a matching ring, and boy, was it beautiful. The price was reasonable for the two items, and I felt very confident with my purchase. During the second trip, our tour stopped again at the Orchid Jade Factory, and I purchased a lovely 18k gold elephant on a chain. The jade elephants were a little too big for me, and I found an 18k elephant enhanced with sapphires and diamonds. I have a lovely remembrance of my second trip to Thailand and my elephant ride! The store setting was very nice. The owner grows award winning coffee, and they offer you the best iced Thai coffee ever. Yum. On both tours we were taken to another large jewelry store in Bangkok with a location in Chiang Mai. The pressure to purchase was unbelievable. You were assigned a person as soon as you entered the store, and they would not let you alone. I went to the ladies' room, and the woman was waiting for me when I exited. At the Orchid Jade Factory, the sales assistants are very knowledgeable and not overbearing. I give them an A+ rating.
Didn't know there was so much to learn about jade. Bought a yellow jade ring for our daughter earlier this year, last week we got matching earrings for her, plus a white opal ring for her half sister. Don't know if we got good prices but the place impressed us. Hostesses/sales girls were beautifully dressed and friendly. AC, Ione CA USA
I have visited the Orchid Jade Factory for over 15 years and every time I went the thai Hosp. was always #1. All my questions were answered and the quality of my purchases were within the price line I expressed. I would encourage anyone intrested in Jade to visit and get a moving experience.
I loved our visit to the Orchid Jade Factory. The family who own and run it are very friendly and welcoming. It was a real treat to watch the artisans creating the jade masterpieces. However, I was under the impression that you could buy jade for reasonable prices and was disappointed that was not the case. My suggestion for anyone planning a trip to Chaing Mai would be to add this to your itinerary, plan to spend a bit and bring home a truly extroardinary treasure.
It is very rare that I find a man's ring that I really like; however, at the Orchid Jade Factory they had several beautiful mens' rings and I found one I just had to have. The price was a bit more than I was willing to pay, but they ultimately came down over 30% of the original asking price. I am extremely happy with my ring and rarely take it off. The staff was very courteous and pleasant and my shopping experience was a very good one and I would recommend this shop to anyone who has any interest whatsoever in jade, which is one of the most fascinating of all minerals.
My wife and I visited Chiangmai in October for the third time. The city has grew so much but one of the things that does not seem to change is the charm of its culture and hospitality of its people. One of my fond experiences was my visit to Orchid Jade. After been taken to so many tourist stores where I was forced to buy something I don't want, this family-run business store simply showed me around their jade factory, which was quite an experience. I ended up buying five jade elephants for my children. I just thought that if you're planning on a trip to Chiangmai you should definitely include a trip to Orchid Jade in your itinerary.
