This restaurant is alongside the river and has a very nice location . The service was good, the food excellent and very reasonably priced. Our second visit was just as good as the first. We enjoyed the live music and would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone visiting Chiang Rai.

Recommended by the hotel manager this place was lovely. Right on the river, not far from town. Food, entertainment for those that like it and the food was great.

Very close to Meridien hotel (out the gate, then right, around the corner, last of the 4 or so restaurants in a row). We had a table right next to the river (almost romantic with our 2 young kids), food great at good price. We had 2 large Heineken + 2x drinks for kids + 5 dishes including steamed fish for 30 USD / 1200 THB; this left us more than satisfied. Attentive staff. Please do visit!

Had a meal in this restaurant last night 3/09/13and loved it. Great setting next to the Kok River. .Great service very attentive but not over powering. Food was fantastic well worth the money, whole bill for 3 was 700TB and as has been said all Thai customers. Pay them a visit well worth it in my opinion.

We have been to this restaurant twice and on both occasions had an enjoyable night. All guests were Asian with no westerners so it appears to be a favourite for locals. Set next to the river it's a great romantic place to eat. No one spoke much English which can be testing at times. The waiters watched us like hawks which is exellent service but at times annoying. Would defiantly visit again

As others said before, very good thai food, not too expensive, and open quite a bit longer than others, if you are late for dinner. The only problem is the live music that gets way too loud even for hearing-impaired-thai standards.
However, I (and at least one more reviewer) am talking about the Lelawadee restaurant in Chiang Rai, at the Kok river (www.leelavadeechiangrai.com, but as of now, this website seems to be infected with badware). The adress and web site given in this Tripadvisor entry is for another place in the same province, but far outside.

Possible the best Thai food I have ever had. Plenty to choose from on the menu, and good sized portions.

The Leelawadee is clearly a local favourite - and where the locals go, so should the tourists. It is located under a giant white tent on the banks of the Kok River. All of the usual Thai favourites are on the menu, but seafood is the star. The tom yum goong is terrific as are the river fish dishes. Just as a warning, this place gets very busy and sometimes the wrong dish ends up on the wrong table - it is worth checking the bill to make sure you are not charged for dishes you didn't receive.
