“A must see in Chiang Mai”
5 of 5 starsReviewed December 1, 2012
Serene with panoramic views on a clear day, the best temple in Chiang Mai.

Best way to visit is by private Taxi, which should cost around 1200 Bhat, and should take you there and back, and wait in air conditioned comfort. For those on a budget there is the red bus option at around 500 Bhat (see xe.com for local currency). Also at the temple is the Jade factory which is also worth looking at,

There is now a cable car to take you to the top, but still interesting to climb the steps at least once.

I am new to Chiang Mai and this was my first visit to a Thai Buddhist temple. To say the temple is awe inspiring is a great understatement. I took the red tourist truck/bus to the top, and even the trip there was beautiful. The temple is kept immaculately clean and orderly, and all the staff were most helpful in assisting me and making my visit most enjoyable. There were many tourists there on this particular day and especially many families. There is also plenty of great food sold by the vendors outside the temple.
