Like many people have said here, I read mixed reviews before arriving in Chiang Mai, but decided it was something I really wanted to see and experience for myself. It was a truly magic experience, one I will never forget! My husband and I decided to go in and see the smallest tigers (I think they were about 4months old) and the medium tigers. Even though I had my camera with me I opted to buy the photo package for the smallest tiger enclosure as well. This was great as it meant I could enjoy my time with the tigers instead of fussing and taking photos. We got the photos on a CD as we were leaving and there were some great shots. The tigers were awake and playful (we were there in mid to late morning), and it was an amazing experience being up so close to them, I loved it! The interaction between the handlers and the tigers was touching to see as well, they obviously love all the tigers and were telling us about their individual personalities. I saw no sign whatsoever of them being mistreated, obviously this is a zoo and as such the tigers are in enclosures, but they have plenty of room, water to play in, and they seemed to be happy playing with each other. To anyone who has doubts, just go and decide for yourself. As for it being expensive, well compared to a lot of things in Thailand I guess it is, but then it's such a unique experience, and you can't really put a price on that.
