“A Great Day at Maetaman Elephant Camp”

There were several elephant camps but I am glad our guide chose to take us to the Maetaman elephant camp. We sat through the elephant show watching the elephants kick balls into the nets and pulling logs. We saw them painting flowers and elephants on T shirts. But what was exciting was the elephant rides that took us down hills crossing a river, uphill into a jungle track and back across the river in a loop. At first it was scary sitting high up and holding tight to our seats as the elepant went down a steep slope, but when it was over, it was well worth it. Do wear comfortable pants and blouse, no slippers as they may slip. We had earlier ridden in an ox cart. The end was a fantastic ride... the bamboo rafting. We had a lovely smooth 4 kilometer ride after which our guide took us to lunch at an aorchid and butterfly farm. a great day it was.
