Father's day June 19th, 2011

Sporting events are some of the most popular events for Father's Day celebrations. Gathering the whole family to take dad out to the ball game is a great way to celebrate the man who brought you into the world, so go ahead and plan on everyone attending his favorite sporting event for his special day. Just make sure that you buy the tickets before finalizing any other plans!
1 Call the box office to see if you can purchase tickets directly. It may actually be cheaper to buy your tickets directly from the box office, provided the box office hasn't been appropriated by a ticket broker service like AceTicket. Larger stadiums that are home fields to major teams are often run by the team organizations as opposed to the ticket broker services.
2 Check with the local radio stations for special game day deals or contests for free tickets. This may not be a sure fire way to get tickets, but if you're trying to get tickets to a sold out game this may be your only option.
3 Read your local classified ads. Often, individuals who have tickets to games but are unable to attend will advertise these tickets for resale in the classified ads in your local newspaper or free classified ad papers.
4 Consider purchasing season tickets. Not only will going to the Father's Day game be a great activity for your celebration, but the gift of season tickets on top of the event will let your father think of you every time he attends a game.
5 Find out whether the stadium is having any special Father's Day events. Often the park will have special promotions for holidays like Father's Day, where they will offer discounted tickets for dads.
6 Talk to your friends that may have corporate connections. Since businesses will often sponsor sports teams, the employees of those businesses are generally offered complimentary tickets to the games. It isn't unusual for some of these employees to be uninterested or unable to attend the game. If you happen to know someone who works for a sponsoring business, ask them if they would be willing to part with their tickets for your father.
7 Investigate special group prices if you plan on bringing the entire family to the game. Children's tickets are also generally discounted, so make sure to ask for those discounted tickets if you have any kids in the appropriate age range.
Tips & Warnings
Buy tickets for a Sporting events as far in advance as possible. The closer you get to Father's Day, the more likely it is that you won't get your first choice of seating. If you know your dad is a huge fan of a particular team, then you may even want to consider buying tickets on the first day they become available.
