This restaurant called Kuang Han (Kuang Han in Thai mean Wind Mill) Restaurant located on Hang Dong area, when you are driving from Central Airport Plaza toward Hang Dong then at Big C intersection then turn right toward Canal Road and it is located just on the left side about 1 kilometer from Big C Hang Dong, you couldn't possibly miss the turn in as it is exactly easy to see as per my pictures attached

I have been there on 18 December and found out that the foods are about Thai Fusion and western food, prices are very reasonable...a romantic night in one of the restaurant building or a fun chatting among the group of friends outdoor beside the water side area may be a good idea...

There are very few safe things in this world that can give an instant burst of excitement like bungy jumping can.

Some people do it because they love the “adrenaline high” while others do it simply to prove to themselves that they can. Whatever the motivation all have a wonderful experience that will stay with them for life.

The Jungle Bungy Jump at the X-Centre rises 50 metres above attractive landscaped gardens centred around a lagoon. You get a fantastic view of the Chiang Mai countryside from the top and if 50 metres does not sound high to you, just wait until you see the ant-sized people below you.

Lower prices than most other countries, a beautiful location and high safety standards make the Jungle Bungy Jump a great place to take the “leap of faith” that you will never forget

About the Chiang Mai Jungle Bungy

The bungy tower is a custom-built structure with a fixed and stable electronic platform that carries jumpers comfortably seated to the jump height of 50 metres.

Although it may resemble a crane it is not. It is a permanent structure with deep steel-reinforced concrete foundations for absolute safety. It was specifically designed for bungy jumping and, unlike crane-bungies, jumpers do NOT leap from a cage swinging on a cable. It’s a design that’s been in use by the Jungle Bungy since 1992 and has proved itself with an excellent safety record.

Bungy Jump Special Package

All jump options come with insurance and a certificate of courage but most popular is the bungy package which additionally includes the ever popular Jungle Bungy shirt and a CD full of photos that record the whole bungy experience from weigh-in to certificate award.

Also a popular choice is the movie DVD. Purchased separately, this DVD filmed by our staff will show the whole experience from start to finish in qualty video.

Bungy Jumping Safety

All training of jumpmasters is overseen by the X-Centre’s manager, Ian Rauner. Ian was involved in the early days of Bungy Jumping in New Zealand and was registered as jumpmaster No 017 with the Standards Association of New Zealand on 19 July 1991 according to “The Code of Practice for Bungee Jumping” NZS 5848.

Jungle Bungy Jump is the original bungy operator in Thailand. The Chiang Mai bungy has an excellent safety record and full public insurance is included as part of any bungy jump package

The Bungy Experience

You shuffle nervously to the edge of the platform, look down and it really hits home how high up you are - everything on the ground looks so tiny just like when you're in a plane.

Against all your instincts you leap into space and feel a massive rush of adrenaline as you plummet at incredible speed towards the water. Just when you think its all going to end very badly you feel the tension increase on the bungy cord and you are pulled up just short of disaster and shot back into the sky.

About this time you hear the cheers of your friends on the ground and you start to feel wonderful. You've just conquered your fear and done something that only a few people are brave enough to do. You're a bungy jumper.

Tandem Bungy Jump

Jumping on your own is tremendous fun but if you prefer to share the experience with a friend you can choose to do a tandem jump. As well as doubling the laughter, some people just find it easier to go through the experience of a first jump if they have the support of another.

Get Wet or Stay Dry

If jumping off a platform 165 feet high is not quite exciting enough on its own you can ask the jumpmasters to calibrate so that you are dunked in the lake at the cord's maximum extension.

The jumpmasters will always check with you before setting up the jump so fear not. You will not get wet unless you want to.

Bungy for Large Groups

Bungy jumping is an ideal activity for large groups. Almost as much fun as actually jumping can be cheering or jeering your mates while they contemplate the wisdom of taking the big leap.

We can accommodate sizeable groups on the day but we do recommend that advance notice is given so we can arrange free transport and any catering if needed. If sufficient people jump then discount can be negotiated.

Watching the Bungy Fun

The bungy is located in a very pleasant garden setting with plenty of seating surrounding the lagoon which allows an excellent view of each bungy jump. Whether alone or in a group its a great place to relax with a drink or two and watch the fun.

Travel Magazine Review
Thais absolutely love pastas and pizza so, when Italian restaurants began to open in Chiang Mai a few years ago, they became hugely popular with Thais. In the last decade, Italian restaurants have sprung up all over Chiang Mai with, now, some of the best Italian restaurants in Thailand located in this beautiful northern city. Popular with Thais and westerners alike, these best Chiang Mai Italian restaurants have food for every taste.

Arcobaleno - I discovered this Chiang Mai Italian restaurant on my last trip to the city and I'm certainly glad I did. Very popular with Thais, Arcobaleno serves some of the best Italian food in Chiang Mai with spaghetti, ravioli, bruschetta, lasagna, macaroni, beef, chicken and fish dishes. Don't miss the Spaghetti with Meat Balls, the Canneloni Diplomat, stuffed with chicken and spinach in a cream sauce, or the Brooklyn Pizza. For dessert the Black Prune ice cream is delicious or, of course, the Tiramisu. They also serve beer, wine, lattes and cappuccinos or, if you want to bring your own bottle, you can do that too. Arcobaleno is in a beautiful setting, bright and airy inside with bright yellow walls and a joyous atmosphere, and a lovely outdoor seating area. Arcobaleno is located at 60 Nawatgate, Chiang Mai.

From the American Consolate follow the river towards Taphae Road to the first traffic light. Turn left and go straight over the Nakornping Bridge through the traffic lights and you’re on Kaeo Narawat Road. Go to the first street on your right and turn onto it. That’s Nawatgate Road and there’s an Arcobalena sign on the corner. Follow that about 150 meters on the left and there’s the restaurant. They have a large parking lot in front of the restaurant.

Doi Inthanon (Thai: ดอยอินทนนท์(Pronunciation)) is the highest mountain in Thailand. It is located in Mae Chaem District. The mountain was also known in the past as Doi Luang (meaning big mountain) or Doi Ang Ka, meaning the crow's pond top. Near the mountain's base was a pond where many crows gathered. The name Doi Inthanon was given in honour of the king Inthawichayanon, one of the last kings of Chiang Mai, who was concerned about the forests in the north and tried to preserve them. He ordered that after his death his remains shall be placed at Doi Luang, which was then renamed.

Doi Inthanon is Thailand's highest mountain and towers 2,565 metres above sea level. Travel 58 kms west of Chiang Mai via Highway 107, by regular coach to Amphoe Chom Thong and thence to the peak for a further distance of 48 kms.

Complex mountain ranges and a mild climate characterise an area with moist and dense summit forest which is the source of important tributaries of the Mae Ping River, one of northern Thailand's major waterways. Various streams descend, forming beautiful waterfalls throughout the park. These include the Siriphum, Vajirathan, Mae Pan, Mae Klang, and, the largest of all, Mae Ya waterfalls. Meo and Karen hilltribes inhabit the park.

Visit the Doi Inthanon National Park is possible throughout the year. The best period for viewing waterfalls is May through November. The best period for viewing wild flowers is December through February. The best period for ornithologists is November through March.

e-mail: neomart@gmail.com

“Must see”
Do have dinner at one of the khantoke dinner shows while in Chiang Mai, really not much more than you'd spend on dinner itself with transportation and cultural performances included. Great for families with kids.

We had a wonderful time at this entertaining evening of dancing and food! Fun atmosphere - you can sit on the floor with cushions or at tables. Traditional Thai dancing performance is followed by a second outdoor performance from various hill tribes. Great value at about 440 bhat (less than US$15 per person). Lots of great food - served family style. I highly recommend this experience for a fun, inexpensive & culturally enriching night - bring the camera!

Arranged a night at Kum Khantoke through our hotel (De Naga). It cost 440B per person which included private van return transfers and the dinner and show. I was unsure what to expect but I was genuinely impressed. Our table was fantastic, right next the the dancefloor, can't get any closer. The food was all very nice and they kept filling it up througout the evening. The show itself was amazing, Thai dancing is beautiful, elegant and a joy to watch. The dancers all mingled with the crown as well and we got some great photos with them.

Overall a very enjoyable experience and a must do in Chiang Mai.

Chiang Saen

Friday, March 6th, 2009 | Thailand Top Attractions | No Comments
It is recorded that an ancient community was founded in the north of Chiang Rai Province more than 2000 years ago. This ancient town was named Yonok Nak Phan. According to legend, King Singhanawat founded the town, and the Nagas (mythical serpents) helped dig the town’s moat. Later, Yonok Nak Phan faced its unfortunate destiny; it collapsed and turned into a swamp. According to the geological evidence, it is believed that the town’s destruction was caused by an earthquake which turned it into present-day Chiang Saen Lake.

The above story is just a historical tale. However, it is clear that Chiang Saen existed during in the reign of King Meng Rai of the Lanna Kingdom, because it known that he truly existed. In the ancient Tai language of Burma and Northern Thailand, the word ‘chiang’ means ‘a big town’, while the word ‘saen’ presumably comes from King Saen Phu, King Meng Rai’s nephew. After King Meng Rai passed away, King Saen Phu came back, renovated Chiang Saen, and was its third king. He also resided and worked there; therefore, Chiang Saen was a capital city from 1327 – 1341, spanning the reigns of King Saen Phu and his son, King Kham Fu. After that, Chiang Saen declined in importance from the capital city to simply a leading town. Nevertheless, Chiang Saen Town was well developed, and Buddhism was dearly cherished by its governors. Ruins of 75 temples have been found within the town walls, and 66 were situated outside. This large number of temples attests to the thriving civilization of Chiang Saen.

In 1557, Chiang Saen, Chiang Mai and several towns of the Lanna Kingdom were captured by Burma. Later, Ayutthaya won them back, and eventually they came under the control of Bangkok.

The many ancient ruins make Chiang Saen a peaceful tourist attraction, with lots to explore. The Town offers a charming and serene atmosphere on the banks of the Khong River, at the three-country border between Laos, Burma and Thailand. Chiang Saen has both scenic natural attractions and an impressive cultural heritage. In particular its impressive Buddha images showcase Lanka, Sukhothai and Ayutthaya art and techniques. Besides, the graceful stuccos and splendid craftwork found in the area are Thailand’s great heritage for its younger generations.

Wat Lok Molee - Chiang Mai Temple

Taxi Chiangmai: Patrick mobile- 081 617 2116 (oversea call ++66 81 617 2116)
e-mail: neomart@gmail.com

This ancient temple was build in 1527, in the Ayudhaya period. The Lok Molee is one of Chiang Mai's beautifulest temples in town.

In the area just north of the city moat of Chiang Mai, opposite of the Wat Morntheran, is the Lok Molee Temple from the year 1527 located. The King Pra Muang Kaew commands his people to build the chedi and the vihan of the Wat Lok Molee here in north Thailand. Now, about 500 years still many believers and tourist comes to visit the holy Buddha images here in this Buddhist temple in Chiangmai. The entry of the Wat is protected by two colorful images of Todsagan. In the temple court you can rest by fresh coffee and watch the beautiful Asian architecture around you. Compared with other Wat’s in Chiang Mai is this low visited one and you can find some lonely moments to meditate or come down from the busy city in north Thailand.

Chiang Mai has more Buddhist temples per square mile than any other place in Thailand, some of the temples in Chiang Mai are actually as old as the city itself, aged staggeringly at more than 700 years old!.

Besides Wat Lok Molee, there are other significant temple:
One of the most visited temples in Chiang Mai is the Wat Doi Suthep. It is also one of the most highly revered and important temples in the country. Pilgrims travel to the temple on the Buddhist holidays of Visaka Bucha Day and Makha Bucha Day every year. The temple can be found on Huai Kaew Road, just past Chiang Mai Zoo.

Perhaps what the Wat Doi Suthep is most famous for is the legend of its founding, which is believed to be back in 1368. Legend has it that a monk had dreamed of God telling him to look for a relic in Pang Cha. When he did, he found a bone that many claim to be Buddha’s shoulder bone. When King Nu Naone found out about the relic with magical powers, he requested that it be brought to him. During the monk’s journey to meet the king, the relic had split into two. Wat Suan Dok enshrines the smaller piece. King Nu Naone placed the bigger piece on the back of a royal white elephant and released it into the jungle. The elephant was said to have climbed up Doi Suthep, trumpeted three times, then died at the site. King Nu Naone then ordered for a temple to be built on the said spot.

Wat Suan Dok, which enshrines the smaller relic, is found along Suthep Road. King Keu Na had this built in honor of the visit by Sumana Thera, who is a revered priest. “Field of flowers” is the loose translation of the temple’s name. Wat Suan Dok is famous for its numerous pagodas, locally known as chedi’s, which are scattered around the temple complex. The small, white pagodas found in front of the largest pagoda in the complex contain the ashes of the members of the Chiang Mai royal family. This was requested by Princess Dararatsami back in 1909.

Wat Chiang Man, which is found along the north wall of the old city on Ratchaphakhinai Road. Built in 1296, it is actually the oldest temple in Chiang Mai. The temple was built on the campsite used by King Mengrai when he was supervising the construction of Chiang Mai. The standing Buddha statue enshrined in the larger viharn (sermon hall) has an inscription dating from 1465, which makes it the oldest Buddha image in Chiang Mai.

The tallest structure in Chiang Mai is Wat Chedi Luang, which is found on Phrapokklao Road. The chedi used to measure 86 meters high and 44 meters wide. owever, the chedi now only measures around 60 meters due to massive earthquakes. Construction of the chedi started in 1391, but it was not finished until 1475.
